D M College Of Science Teachers Association
Imphal, 25 August 2013

On the issue of post biometric attendance system analysis of the college teachers, a meeting was hurriedly convened by the D M College of Science Teachers Association on 24th August, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Room No. 73 of D M College of Science, Imphal and minutely discussed the issue of poor attendance report that has damaged the prestige of the premier college in Manipur.
After deliberations from the teachers very seriously, the meeting unanimously resolved to condemn the news report considering the following points:
1. Although the Biometric Attendance System was formally inaugurated on the 5th June, 2013, the system was commissioned w.e.f. 25th July, 2013 as the process of registration was done in phase wise manner till 24 July, 2013 vide Principal's notification 2/Misc/2013 - DMC(Sc), dated 22nd July, 2013.
The delay in the registration process was due the large number of faculties (Departments) and reopening of the College on 20th July 2013 only after the Summer Vacation.
2. On the basis of this Biometric installation process, the number of working days available for the month of July, 2013 is only 6 (six) days.
This suggests that the maximum number of days (Presents) in Biometric Machine could be only 6(six) days.
The report, thus, published for the month of July 2013 having 25 working days is not applicable in respect of D M College of Science, Imphal.
3. Further, the meeting discussed on some suspicious errors in recording the attendance of teachers in the Machine highlighting the cases where the biometric signatures of some staff were not recognized properly or read their MGELs and resolved unanimously to request the concerned authority to recheck the machine for proper functioning at the earliest.
4. The Meeting finally expressed deep regret the unwarranted report which has damaged the integrity of the teachers who have been working prestigiously for the welfare of the students' community since the inception of the college.
